Knife Sharpening / Re: KJ-140 middle gap normal?

If I had known that, I wouldn't have posted.

I'm glad you found a solution that meets your needs. I have never sharpened a knife with a spine thickness of 0.6 mm, so I can't really contribute a solution.

Personally, I believe that the jig for long knives is not designed to support extremely thin blades. I haven't seen a specified lower limit for suitable spine thickness, but it seems obvious that sharpening something as thin as a piece of aluminum foil would be difficult to work with the setup.

That said, I've never tried it myself, and I don't know the practical limits.

Eric
Please try sharpening with much less pressure. The smile is very likely not caused by the jig.

General Tormek Questions / Re: Knife Steel Nerds

I've read all the articles on his blog — most of them several times. They're real eye-openers. I'm inclined to trust him, though it's difficult to verify his claims without access to an electron microscope.

Glad to see some progress.
I will not call them and remain standby. Fingers crossed.

I will call them tomorrow. Lets see.

I'm surprised to hear about your problems with this reputable supplier.
The best would be to give them a call. I assume they speak english.
If this would be inconvenient for you, I could call them and try to bring them in contact with you. I'm based in Germany.
If you are interested, send me some contact info and if possible a PO number or something I could refer to.

I was only able to find a capacitor for the T4 and T8 at that website https://www.sharpeningsupplies.com/collections/tormek-replacement-parts.

The capacitance of those capacitors is specified in microfarads, while there is no mention of impedance.
For the T1200, I would ask support.
