With all the hype about diamond and CBN wheels, it is easy to forget that the "Original" wheels may actuallybe better at some things. I think that for those planning to replace their SG-250 with a different wheel, it is wise to make the replacement with some usable abrasive on the SG for circumstances like scissors.

I agree. I have a Twice as Sharp scissors sharpener, but I still need SG-250.

I wasn't sure about the answer, so I emailed Stig. Here is his reply:

Hi Ken,
The vibrations that can occur between a wheel and tool when sharpening on a high angle is what can damage any type of wheel with CBN or diamond. So it doesn't matter if it's CBN or Diamond. A careful user will most likely have no issues on either type of wheels but there is a risk, like on the regular stones, that something might happen if the user is not concentrated on the task.

I heard that setting high angle on the CBN wheel will cause problem with CBN grit.

How about diamond wheel? Can I sharpen scissors on it?

Did you notice they are not square ?

While we go extra mile for jig projection length measurement,
then set height with digital caliper up to 0.1mm precision but
turs out USB is not square and off by 1.5mm or almost 2 degrees only on one blade side.

While 1m of SS 12m rod costs here in NZ $7,
I paid $170 for USB and would expect top quality and squareness.

They're not square like yours.

I'm a Tormek reseller in South Korea and I found rust on the same point in a few times.

So when I get US-430, I apply rust inhibitor on it before shipping to customer.

Sharpco, congratulations on becoming a Tormek dealer. When I decided to do sharpening I watched many videos, including many of yours. I was always impressed with how clean your shop is. Now, whenever I look around my shop and it's a bit messy, I think back to your videos, then grab the broom and dustpan!

Recently, I set up a 2x72 belt grinder next to the Tormek. Yeah, it makes a lot of dust but I clean it as if I were cleaning Tormek.

Tormek and belt grinder are a fantastic combination

The primary and secondary facets can be sharpened, but you will need to rotate it between each of the flutes.  The tertiary facet is different.

There is a side effect. I can buy Tormek and its accessaries at a low price

We are Tormek dealer in South Korea. I heard that same news.

In these days,  I have been 1 year using Tormek DF-250 and Tormek DE-250 with tap water only; without ACC-150 or another corrosion inhibitor.
At least, for knives every day from Tuesday to Saturday.

Both wheels are in perfect state.

The only point to consider during the work with this wheels is to dry them just after use.
This is my experience.
