I hate changing stones, it interrupts my process. I've been considering getting another Tormek ...
Perhaps I've been looking at this wrong...looking at your above statement I wonder how much a "T8 Ultimate" would eat into the sales of people buying a second machine.

This statement bothers me. I hope you did not mean to imply that Tormek has decided not to make a two wheel machine in order to boost sales. I have seen no evidence of that. A number of us do have more than one Tormek; however, this was due to our own choice rather than encouragement from Tormek. The Tormek philosophy has always been a single, stand alone machine. Throughout most of Tormek's history, that philosophy has always been with a single grinding wheel. Until recently, the extra wheels, including the diamond wheels, have received very little attention from Tormek.

I wouldnt want to cannibalize an already profitable product line - I'm not saying profits are everything; and after adding the hassle of making a new machine and marketing it can add up to be too much.

Also, sometimes I change the stone and it wobbles. Sometime it doesn't.

No personal experience, but I believe Knife Grinders Australia and probably others have produced add-ons to use the machines (or at least the T8) with two wheels. But I believe their system would only work with CBN or diamond wheels which don't require water.

Related Q: How often does the white paste get added?
I squirt a thin bead on the wheel and then spread it out with my finger. If paste is thinly spread and there is not enough to cover the wheel I squirt a little more. Individuals use more or less paste as a personal preference. I personally think excessive paste just gets removed by the first knife you hone.

I love the Tormek! My knives get really sharp really quick! Maintaining the mirror edge is easy. If I have to go back to using EdgePro or Haptsone, I'll forget about knives and shift focus to my guns.
Quote from: tgbto on January 31, 2022, 08:02:56 AMYup, I too have few knives so I've offered sharpening for sis, mom and friends too
I'd concur with cb : the wheel may get out of round with the diamond plate, though with the small quantity of knives I sharpen it takes a rather long time.

These all use M6 threads, as do most of the Tormek jigs. Switch these three screws with M6 socket set screws 10 mm length, and the problem is almost solved. The SVM-45 still does not quite clear the US-103. Very minor grinding of the area which still bumps will solve this, while in no way effecting the functioning of the jig.

The only reason I can think that guided honing "can't be done on the T-4", is the grinding stone is more likely to get in the way? This of course can be dealt with, just like it is on the T-8, by removing the stone and using a spacer.

Swedish dude,
If you are still following these posts, I would seriously recommend that you scratch off the SJ-200 Japanese wheel from your "must have soon" list. I know it is a strong temptation; however, having an SJ too early can retard your mastery of the SG and leather honing wheel.
Be patient and learn the craft.
Good luck,
Ken
