So recently acquired my T4 and had a couple of minor irritations.
1: Developed a small chip on the edge of the SJ200.
Started out very gently and very slowly using an off cut of suede but that was taking forever.
So got some 1200g sandpaper and boom sorted it I'm minutes.
I've now done both edges.

2: The bump on honing wheel where the leather is joined was bugging me so again 1200g to the rescue.
Needless to say I'll be doing both these procedures with any new wheels in the future.

General Tormek Questions / Re: Dealing with Jig jiggle

I have a similar experience in that I've noticed the micro adjustment knob at the top of the jig has a tendency to turn very slightly as I'm working it across the USB.
I've set my jigs up so the top of the jig shaft is flush with the top of the plastic micro adjustment dial so I have a visual reference but I'm wondering if I'd be better to tighten it all the way in the hope of restricting the possible movement of the micro adjustment dial.

Knife Sharpening / Re: Using the Japanese Wheel
November 12, 2020, 08:43:07 AM
I've very recently bought the SJ along with my T4 and was really pleased with the results.
Have been using in trailing edge which creates a magnificent polished finish BUT today I was using it in the trailing edge position and suddenly felt and saw a chip on one edge.
Not happy.
What you guys reckon just keep using or what??

This looks great, a little bit pricey by the time you add in shipping to NZ but then everything is when shipped here.

See this video starting at about six minutes sanding the leather honing wheel is discussed.

Hey Ken, thanks for your help yesterday and I'll be doing a bit of sanding later today.

Yeah I guess I was expecting it to be a smoother sensation but not a show stopper as you point out.
I might try a lite sanding on seam see if that helps.

General Tormek Questions / T4 honing wheel
November 11, 2020, 11:30:23 AM
Hi all, have just recently got  T4 and have conditioned the leather honing wheel as per the instructions, however I can really notice the seam join while using it. It results in a bumpy feel.
Does this reduce with time or should I take some action to smooth it.
