Knife Sharpening / Angle Dissmis
January 24, 2024, 08:57:02 AM
Hello!
I had the problem, that adjusting the T8 to 15°, the knifes angle was different. Thats because the thick of the blade and the brideness of the blade make a dissmis of round about 1,4°.
So I made a formula for the TormekCalc Excel sheet in this way:

=WENNFEHLER((Z6-(ARCSIN(((J6/2)/I6)))*180/PI())/2;"")

Z6 is the angle I like to grind.
J6 is the thicknes of the blades back.
I6 is the brideness of the blade.

Hi folks!
That was new to me.
The SJ-250 has to be mounted only with writing upwards.
If you do not so the rotation of the dics is not correct.
That´s the info from Tormek Customer Service.

For me that´s trash. So my next wheel is a CBN with 6µ.

Hello!
I use a Waterstone 250. I tried to truing the stone. It doesn´t work corretly.
I drive very slow from the outer side to the inner side. to check the line, I use a straightedge.
It´s aweful. It is a curve from innerside to the auter side. But it has to be flat.
How can I get a flat stone?

Knife Sharpening / How do I get a small knife edge?
January 23, 2022, 08:29:37 AM
Working with the T8, I usually get an edge of 3-4mm. Now I like to get an edge with less 1mm wide. What technic do I have to use to get this result?

Hello forum!
Tormek gives the advice to use the DBS-22 with the SB-250, the black disk.
Why is no one using a diamond disc DC-250 for the DBS-22 to grind HSS-drills?

Hey Folks!
I tried to put a M12 threadnut on the toolbar. It doesn´t match. What thread is on the Tormek standart toolbar?
I controlled my threadnut with a threadcutting tap and it is OK.

Knife Sharpening / Finding the angle
November 11, 2021, 02:58:26 PM
Hey folks!
With my new T-8 I have a problem to find the right angle.
Putting the WM-200 on the blade, it shows the 20° Angle. With the same configuration I put a levelbox on the blade, the angle is around 50°.
What is the mistake?

Thanks

Knife Sharpening / Sabtier Damast does not work
November 09, 2021, 08:56:09 AM
Hi guys!
My Sabatier Chef knife Damast doesnt work.
It is sharp with 20° and goes through paper with a smooth whisper. My finger did it cut too. Damned.
On chives it is working perfect, with onions it fails. Bell pepper is so lala.
I have no meat to test it at this time.
Why does it work so different?
Because the thickness of the blade?
Did I made a mistake? What could be a solution?

Thanks

Knife Sharpening / SVM-00
November 04, 2021, 12:07:17 PM
Hello forum!
Sorry, sorry, sorry for my bad English. That is not really my tounge.
The Tormek jigs for knifesharpening cannot center properly to flip to 180° around.
My SVM-45 flips correct for knifes with 2,1mm thickness of the blade.
My SVM-140 works well with 3mm.
The mount of the SVM-00 is 3mm thick. WHY??
Tormek says, the SVM-00 is to use only with the SVM-45.
Little pocketknifes will be holden also by a 2mm mount. And with a little tapeline everyone cann adjust the centering to his jig.
Now I have to go to a shop to grind 0,5mm per side to have a propper flip.
Or is there a real reason for 3mm?

Have a nice day
