Oh yes, love doing this. Our church had (I have no idea how many knives needed sharpened). SInce my wife is one of the leaders of the womans group I told her to bring everything home, guessing 40 knives. Did them all no charge. Will do it again when asked.

Don't laugh but my bench is an old door. Put each blade in the lock bolt hole, added very lite pressure. Not a go to process but it worked.

Yep, spotted that. Will attempt to straighten. Almost looks like something heavy was sat on them. I`m very new to scissors, big learning curve. Thanks

Scissors Sharpening / tight

A friend of my wife's gave her a pair of offset fiskars fabric shears. The blades are in good shape. They are very hard to open and close but they cut just fine. Backed the screw off maybe 1/10 of a turn. They wont cut anything now. I know it has too much of a gap. ANy ideas how these can be made to work?

This may have been covered before but I have a question. Have cheap throwaway scissors killed the sharpening market?

Hone more to remove scratches? Carbide cutting tools when they are new are not a sharp to the touch as new high speed steel ones. Wonder if it is the same with blades? Carbide needs a higher pressure to cut where steel ones need to be very sharp to work.

Hey Ken
In the surface grinding world a single point diamond gives the best finish. No disrespect to Tormek but that's what a career in toolmaking taught me.

A single point diamond is better than a cluster. Google surface grinding supplies and look for diamond dressers. You will find a variety of shank sizes. Be careful though,  that are fragile. Might be why Tormek uses clusters.

Knife Sharpening / newbie question

Sorry, I`m sure this has been covered. How much do folks charge to sharpen knives?
