first unboxing thoughts

While you are first unboxing your new Tormek is an excellent chance to look inside. The cardboard sleeve over the shaft where the grinding wheel will go and the nut on the end will keep the shaft from falling out when you upend your Tormek to look inside.

You should keep the little cardboard sleeve. It will be useful in moving or packing your Tormek when you have the wheel removed.

What inspired this thought was when I recently up ended my Tormek with the grinding wheel removed. I did not have the cardboard sleeve and nut on the shaft. The drive wheel and shaft fell out the other end. No harm was done, although I had to reseat one of the bushings (not a big deal). It provided me an excellent opportunity to regrease the bushings.

It is good to have an understanding of how your Tormek works.
