All the recent posts about spare parts started me wondering about what might be an average lifespan of the nylon bushings on a Tormek. Having seen his pile of worn out grinding wheels, I consulted my knife sharpening guru, Steve Bottorff. Steve replied that he averages six grinding wheels to one set of nylon bushings.

So, I don't think I will need new bushings this year. :)

Thanks, Steve.

The bushings, are one of the cheaper items, but if you stick to the once a year greasing/lub, then you will be inspecting them regularly.

Yeah you know Tormek have reached sharpening nirvana when you get a prosthetic hand as part of the standard package :/)

Given good maintenance with regular cleaning and regreasing, I doubt the average Tormek user will ever need to replace the bushings. How many of us will need to replace more than one grinding wheel?
