Received an email from sharpeningsupplies.com.   10 Percent off all wheels and accessories
until end of September.  They usually don't charge shipping over 99 dollar order.  Just a heads up

General Tormek Questions / Practically free pivot collar
September 07, 2020, 09:11:15 PM
I've been wanting to learn to use a pivot collar.  I thought of this.
I have these hard foam practice golf balls.  Very dense foam and water resistant.
I disected one in half.  Drilled hole just smaller than the diameter of the jig shaft.
put golf ball above the knob, flat side against the knob.   2 pivot collars for 75 cents.
Now I just need to learn to use them.
Best wishes,
Tim

General Tormek Questions / USB threads rusting
October 19, 2019, 07:47:07 PM
I use my T8 many hours weekly and it is a workhorse.
Any advice for how to keep the threaded part of the USB
from always rusting would be appreciated.

General Tormek Questions / Paper Cutter Blades
April 13, 2018, 04:53:43 PM
Anyone attempted a paper cutter blade?
My first guess is to remove the blade and sharpen as a scissor blade
or planer blade.  I haven't seen the actual cutter yet, just was asked if I would consider doing it.

I have a tendency to develop a tennis elbow which is related to repetitive
motions.  I have found that working with the wheel going away from me makes a great difference.
Rather than having to put constant pressure on a knife
I can let the support bar do a lot of the work and I can use lighter pressure on the blade.
Saves me a lot of muscle fatigue after 30 or 40 knives.

General Tormek Questions / Can't upload pics

Just looking for suggestion to reduce file size of pics.
Your upload limit is pretty limited even for one pic.

I could really benefit by having an extension to the support arm that would add an extra 3 or 4 inches.
I sharpen some longer slicing knives and run out of room.  There is already an inside thread on the arm
to accommodate the end stop for the straight edge jig.  All I would need is  a straight tube of the same diameter
threaded to fit in the end of the arm.  Appreciate any feedback

General Tormek Questions / Sanitizing the wheel
April 22, 2017, 01:28:25 AM
Is there any harm in running the wheel through a mild bleach solution daily.
I service varied accounts and always clean items prior and after.
I don't know if bleach has any negative effect on the stone.

General Tormek Questions / Water trough knob
April 01, 2017, 09:58:00 PM
Has anyone had a problem with the water trough knob on the t-8 coming off?
Mine did last week.  They have a repair kit that they are sending me and they
have sent a link to a video on how to repair myself.  Involves completely disassembling
unit.  Wondering if this is widespread.
