straight edge jig binds on the universal support

hi,
my straight edge jig binds on the universal support at the end where only one of the mounting holes are on the support (when i am inserting/removing the jig.) i tried wiping/waxing the support but didn't really help. i can see the binding pattern (stripes) on the support bar.

i am an infrequent user, mainly because i use my hand tools infrequently.

i am sharpening a bunch of chisels now and towards the end i noticed this problem much more.

any help appreciated.

The problem is misalignment while the jig is only on with one bushing.  I'm sure you've noticed that it smoothes out when you get the second side on.  Align it carefully and try to slide it straight on until the second side is in place.
