Sharpening high-speed steel

For some years I've had a Tormek Supergrind 1200. It still has the original wheel, in good condition, and I'm pretty happy with it - except when I sharpen my 2 3/8in. high-speed-steel-tipped plane iron. This is a frustratingly slow procedure because so little steel is removed, the only exception being when the water trough is almost dry and there's a grit slurry all over the wheel. Any tips? Or do I need a different wheel for HSS?

Thanks.

Clean your wheel frequently and aggressively with the coarse side of the stone grader when sharpening difficult steel.  Every couple of minutes is not too much.
