Asymmetric Knife Bevels with SVM-45

For knives where the spine is thicker than about 2-3 mm, the center axis of the knife blade is not in line with the center axis of the SVM-45 jig shaft, resulting in asymmetric bevels.

How do you avoid this? (I don't want to have to reset the angle for each side of the knife.)

I have been battling this issue, especially with Japanese single bevel (concave back) knives.
I have had some moderate success using small popsicle sticks under the leading edge of the jig.
A PIA to clamp, but seems to work well.
Multiple layers of tape and or washers (shims) also work.

Probably works for your example, but you can't shim a blade that is too thick for the SVM-45... it's already off center and a shim makes it worse.
