My way of mounting knife in SVM-45 jig

I have tested Sandor's knife mounting procedure on a simulated thick blade. Between the static clamp and the knife blade I inserted a 2 mm thick spacer. In this way an almost 6 mm thick blade was simulated. Then I applied Sandor's procedure step by step. I needed four iterations to get the same edge angles on the Anglemaster for both sides.

So, I can confirm that the mounting procedure works for thick knives also.  :)

P.S.: Riddle-me-this geometrically if you can, I'd love to see that.

Based on Jan's image, what I am seeing is this goes against Jeff Farris's recommendation of aligning the front of the jig with the knife blade, if it is a thick knife.  (don't seem parallel)

Jan, am I seeing that correctly, or is that your experience?  Does that play much of a part in getting the blade to follow the stone without grinding one spot more then others?

Yeah you know Tormek have reached sharpening nirvana when you get a prosthetic hand as part of the standard package :/)

SADW, actually I have not sharpened that knife. I was testing the Sandor procedure to obtain the same bevel angles for both sides of a thick blade. The picture only shows the spacer position.  :)

Initially the straight part of the bevel has been mounted parallel with the jig front. During the four iterations I have needed to obtain the same bevel angles for both sides of the blade I have partially lost the initial parallelism.  :-[

So nothing against Jeff Farris's recommendations.

Bouncing this thread up for a couple of reasons.... one is the instructions for mounting a blade in the standard jig (going to try it out)... the second is the author (Pavol Sandor) has some interesting videos showing some quality magnified edges sharpened on the Tormek.  Here's the most recent...

... along with a request.  If someone who understands this can provide any translation of some of the key points (not the whole thing obviously, but anything educational or interesting)... it would be appreciated!

Edit to add:  If you go to their forum...

... and translate the page (I opened in Google Chrome and used its translate feature)... there's quite a bit of valuable info.
