Hello.
There has to be a simple instruction how to add a picture in a thread.
Please tell me, step by step how to do.
Normally there is a button "add picture" to press and choose a picture from your phone or computer.

Hi,

it's the leftmost button in the lower row of buttons above the text insertion field. (The one below the fat B )

Hello.
That gives [img]/[img], and next step?
I must somehow choose a picture...

I just tried HatchCanyons suggestion and it does not do anything. There is no option to select a picture from anywhere. It merely posts the letters . That is not an image nor does it redirect you to a file with pictures in it. I believe the way most people do it is to post your pictures to a website and then copy and paste the link to same. Be sure it is not password protected. It has already been discussed that the software on this site is somewhat antiquated. If I am wrong then someone show me where and I will thank you.
You can use less of more but you cannot make more of less.

Janne, next step is to insert the address of your image using e.g. Ctrl V.

The whole procedure is following:
Your picture should be stored in a suitable file repository e.g. Dropbox.
Dropbox will provide you with internet address of your image.
Press the Insert Image button.
Insert/paste the image address between [img]I[img].

Janne, the post editor works with different address to your image.

Click on the link you have mentioned:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/pw4vzbp7ifqdtmm/_20160812_210651-640x502.JPG?dl=0
and your browser will open your image stored in Dropbox repository.

Right-click on the image and select Store image address. The address will be copied. The address to your image is following:

https://photos-6.dropbox.com/t/2/AADJYv-UeudkgI-22O4hdo5XkMC0SdeyJF04vtFxoUIQfg/12/593937016/jpeg/32x32/3/1471262400/0/2/_20160812_210651-640x502.JPG/EMGd0-QEGAYgAigC/5RIVcF76KhjPIvfHXPOckl78GBqrOffUND04bvdKjJY?size_mode=3&size=1600x1200&dl=0

This address is expected by the post editor. Using mouse right-click you can paste it.

That's all. Your image will be displayed in your post.

Good luck

Jan,

Earlier I sent Janne a PM offering to post his photos for him. In the past i had (finally) successfully posted photos using photobucket. Your suggestion using dropbox works more easily, in my opinion. i post Janne's photos in the drill bit sharpening section in his post.

Thanks,

Ken

Hi,
It is now possible to upload pictures the "normal" way, there are some restrictions on size and how many pictures per topic.
This is a test first so we see that the forum runs ok, hopefully we can keep the attachments pretty light.

So, press "attachments and other options" and learn about it.

Best,
Stig
