I'm getting ready to start my own mobile sharpening service. Everything appears to be in place and ready to go. I just can't seem to make up my mind regarding the type of power supply that is best suited for off-grid applications.

With the price of gas / diesel these days it might be cheaper to have a battery powered inverter? Mine is powered with a 48 volt x 14 Amp-Hour electric bike battery (672 Watt-Hours capacity). I average 130 Watt-hours usage at a four-hour long farmers' market. To achieve that, most of my equipment have brushless motors with variable frequency drives.

Interesting. Are you running a Tormek T-8 off of that power supply?

3D Anvil

My Tomeks draws 103 watts, so in 4 hrs. it would only use 0.412 kwh of power even if you ran it continuously.

HaioPaio

I guess it draws 103 W when grinding. In idle, it should draw much less.
So, the average power consumption could be even lower.
For your bussiness however, I wish it never runs idle.

No,I don't use a Tormek anymore for my farmers market setup.
