I can see manufacturers buying these as part of quality control and for development testing. Perhaps for the development of sharpening processes for the quintessential edge.
If I asked a hundred customers what a BESS score means I would be shocked if 1 knew the answer.
The people I sharpen for know their knives are sharper than they were when new and that makes them happy.
