That´s correct and precise observation, OW!  :)

Tormek grinder generates wide spectrum of vibrations. If the natural frequency of the potential resonator (work surface, lamp, jig, water trough) is near to some pronounced frequency in the Tormek spectrum, it starts to resonate soon.
If it is not the case, the potential resonator needs more time to overcome the damping and to start produce an audible hum.
