could some one tell me if it is possible to sharpen the blade on a sports knife that has shape in the cutting edge on the tormek using the standard jigs . ie:the blade is not straight it is wider at the handle and tip than it is in the middle

That depends a little bit on the length of the blade. In general, that style of blade is a problem. The concave curve is more severe than width of the stone.  Sometimes, I round over one corner of the stone and freehand the concave curve on that.
