Can I switch the leather honing wheel with a hard felt wheel?

I doubt you'll find a wheel of sufficient diameter that would also work with the drive wheel. That said, what would be the point?  I think you'll find the leather wheel far superior to felt in performance.  Felt -- even hard felt -- gives more than the TORMEK leather wheel, making it easy to round over the edge.
