When sharpening a knife I have had the knife edge dig into the stone and "kickback" against my hand and damage the surface of the stone. What am I doing wrong am I lifting the jig off of the support, any comments would be appreciated.

Jeff Farris

You're letting the jig come off the Universal Support. It is essential to keep the stop (the black plastic part) and the shaft firmly seated against the Universal Support. Concentrate your pressure there, rather than on the blade against the stone.
