Just got 3 10" slotted paper wheels and I'm finishing up my grinder/USB stand setup.  How many paper wheels do you have for honing and do you use honing coolant for each?  Thanks in advance.

So how is PB Blaster used on diamond and CBN wheels?

Thanks.  I'll go with that.

Does anyone here use the Sharpening Made Easy, slotted paper wheels?  I just ordered some 10" wheels from them, however they will take weeks to arrive.  I'd like to know if they are actually 10" in diameter?  I'm trying to set up my grinder for honing and need to make some dummy wheels to use to measure off of.
What do you commonly use on your paper wheels and for what purposes?

Just wondering...is there a direct relationship between the height of the USB to base, with USB to wheel?

So, I've read thru the KG USB stand setup and it is a bit confusing.  If I'm going to be using CalCapp, do I really need to setup the stands exactly as KG recommends?  There are some calculations needed to do that, like the Constant Horizontal and Vertical, etc.  Every time I read it, I'm confused by it.  Has anyone here done a similar setup?
In reality it's not that complicated.  If you're using 10" wheels, the center axis of the USB should be 12.5cm from the center axis of the grinder's axle.  That's what Wootz calls the "constant horizontal."

The top of the USB should be 220-230mm from the mounting base.  That's the "constant vertical."

In practice, it's a little tricky measuring the constant horizontal because the USB and grinder axle are on different levels.  You can make up a plumb line to hang off the USB to make it easier.  Use a piece of dental floss with a weight tied to the end or something along those lines.

Well that seems simple enough, however what if my grinder's axle height is different from the one Wootz used?

That's what I would have done if I had a welder ... and knew how to weld.
Actually, I'm new to welding.  I got a Miller 211 about 2 years ago and it's very forgiving. I don't trust my welds to hold anything that undergoes any high stress, but for this kind of stuff, it's ok.

The screws to mount the XB100 are about 58mm apart, on center.

I made this ridiculous-looking setup, which works, although it looks ridiculous.   ;D

It requires reversing the USB when switching wheels, but that's not a big deal.

It works, right?  That's all it needs to do.  Actually, that pic showed me what I need to do to make a base for a square tube.  All I need to do is weld a square plate to the bottom of the tube and there's the base.  Thanks for the pic!

Understood.  My bad.

Ok...I've ordered the USB mounts.  Now I'm trying to figure out the size of the square tube I need.  Any idea of dimension and wall thickness?  Are the bases for the square tubes sold anywhere or were they fabbed up?

I want to use it as part of the protocol that Vadim calls out for in the deburring process.

Thanks.  Everything helps.  I'll keep searching KG site for info.

There's a page with some info on KGs website...

http://knifegrinders.com.au/11Shop_PWsupport.htm

... that has info on some of the items needed, and according to this post...

...they may still have some of the "Stands for grinder", if you can't make your own.

I see there's a range in the height of the Stands, but if I make my own with square stock, what is the recommended total height?  Also, did Vadim use 10" paper wheels in his setup?

Thanks so much.  This will be a big help.  I just sent an email to Daniel for those stands and hope they are the one's I'm thinking they are.
