I also received the Vetako a few days ago. Works fine, very clear readout.

Hello Josu, a very clear and useful description of working with three leather wheels as suggested by our genius wootz.

Just to avoid a confusion: In the list of the three compound used you correctly list diamond compound 1 micron. Later in the text you write 0.1 micron for the compound for the second leather wheel.

I also like this sharpening method with the three leather wheels!

The size of the O-ring is ID 8,4 mm x 2,5 mm. This is the dimension I measured.

Of course I started immidiately to search for a source of HDPP chopping/cutting boards. But the result was disappointing, I found no supplier for these boards in home kitchen sizes. Any suggestions where to look?

Here is one source. Different colors are offered for different food.

Thank you, John.

Ribbed photographic developping trays have a minimum contact area to the wheel, resist by nature to water and are much softer than steel. They also can moved around easily. If they sit on the floor, the chance of a damage if the wheel tilts is less.

General Tormek Questions / T7 Trough Cleaning
March 01, 2019, 07:42:24 PM
Dear friends, I didn't like to clean the magnet side of the T7 water trough from captured steel particles. So I sealed a strong magnet in a plastic foil (picture 1). In the trough it is held by the existing magnet of the trough (picture 2). Most of the steel particles now are collected by the strong magnet in the foil. For cleaning the magnet with the surrounding foil can be removed (picture 3) and cleaned easily outside the trough.

Why don't you use Knife Grinders (wootz) software to set the correct angle? It is easy to use and very precise.

This device I fixed on the standard collar with strong double sided sticky tape.

I love innovation.  How does it work with the rotation of the standard collar?  Do you just set the projection in increments of half-turns and go from there?

Rick

Rick, after seeing your great tool I was looking for a way that I can test this method. That was my intention to make the cheap copy. If I come to the conclusion that I like it and use it often I most probably will purchase your professional tool as now offered by Knife Grinders, Australia.

Thank you!

Yes, the increments are half-turns.

Just a short info about my economy version of the pin pivot collar.

I used a flat washer, glued on it two tubes with a high strength epoxy glue (cured at 90°C for two hours). This device I fixed on the standard collar with strong double sided sticky tape.

Works great – and can be removed if needed!
