I use a old towel also plus a magnifier light, i make sure i see fiber the full length of the blade. I have excellent results.

Herman, what is the link to make the jig you made?  I was thinking of cutting an old white cutting board down to make it out of, your suggestions.

He gets that knife razor sharp, mine get sharp but not like that.  Will i become a jedi sharpener with time?  It can get frustrating i guess practice makes perfect

I set my angle at 15 and still can not get a sharp edge, it's a gerber and i graded the stone to fine, is it me or are these really hard to sharpen :(

I WAS WATCHING YOUR VID ON YOUR JIG YOU MADE, AFTER YOU SET THE ANGLE DO YOU HAVE TO RESET FOR BLADE THICKNESS?  I LOVE THE JIG I WOULD SAVE ALOT OF TIME AND I WOULDN'T RUN MY HAND INTO THE STROP WHEEL ANYMORE.

I just received a sm45 jig and the handle always wants to unscrew or screw in changing the blade angle. Is it me or is this jig messed up. all the vids i see they have a locking screw, not mine.
