General Tormek Questions / New SVS-50
January 22, 2007, 07:32:19 PM
I picked up the new TTS-100 and in the instruction book found that there is a new SVS-50 that has a shorter and angled head.  Does the new one work better and rather than buy a new one, can the head be ground off?

Thanks,

General Tormek Questions / Not much fun
October 28, 2006, 08:39:53 PM
Jeff,

I just wanted you to know that my Tormek is not much fun.  I used to enjoy getting sharpening stones ready, setting up the tools that I had to keep the angles correct, making many strokes to get the edge just right, and then taking everything down and putting it away.  Then I got the Tormek.

Today I thought I would have some great fun and work on two of my father-in-laws chisels.  Now you have to remember that these are made for wood, but he has used them for years to chip cement, nails, etc.  They had some good-sized chunks out of them and I was sure that I would be in for a nice enjoyable half hour.  Wrong!  Both were done in under 10 minutes and that included set up and clean up.  Now I ask you.  What fun is that?   :'(
