The nut was backed off and the wheel was spinning free with about 1/8" lateral play.  The nut was frozen and I couldn't determine where to lock the spindle to crank on the nut.  Standard nut about 3/4 or the mm equivalent. 

It's fixed now.  Spent the last couple of hours sharpening chisels and block planer blades.  Very nice machine.

Hello, first timer here.
I inherited a model 2000 from my brothers estate.  I noticed the grinding wheel had some lateral movement on the spindle, nut was not tight against the wheel.  I shot The nut with some PB Blaster to free it up, but my problem is I don't see any way to hold the spindle from turning.  Advice greatly appreciated.
