I watched it, seems a little rushed but still great video. I have watched most of their videos and I have to say, they have helped me tremendously. I would love for them to make a series of individual videos that focused on one product, say single beveled knives (Deba, Usuba, Yanagiba) and spend about an hour or so, on detailed sharpening and then have a chef there use them to show the difference. All other items would be the same, Chisels and a woodworker, gouges and and a wood turner, the possibilities are endless and it would show the viewer how to get the most professional result from the Tormek range and jigs. I would also like to see a little bit more detail in their camera work, better closeups with good lighting so I can see the burr coming of the item being sharpened.

I hope I am not coming of as complaining as I am not, I just think a more detailed sharpening video, instead of rushing through many items would help lots of new and seasoned Tormek users.

I am still working on my workflow but with the help of people here and extensive research on many sites, my current workflow is as follows:

Unless requested by the customer, I use the marker method for the angle, if the customer want it reprofiled, I choose 15 degrees.

I use the DF250 diamond wheel and I have to say, It gives a great edge/finish

I always failed at free hand honing but once I bought the MB102 and used it to recreate the sharpening angle for honing, not only do my knifes fell sharper and cut better but my customers seem to be very happy and I am getting great feedback. I also use the composite wheel.

I currently do not sharpen high-end knives and would have to rethink my workflow for that but up to now, my clients seem very happy.

Knife Sharpening / Re: Consistenty of sharpening

I am also new to the Tormek system and everyone here have been super helpful, I bought the DE 250 diamond wheel and find very little pressure is needed, the main thing is a nice even speed across the whole knife and checking for a burr across the whole length of the knife. Many a time I would feel a burr at the first 1/3 of the knife but not at the back but as soon as I continued to sharpen a few more strokes and felt the burr along the whole knife, then I noticed it was ready to turn over. Also, I have watched tons of videos and the general consensus is, deburring on the honing wheel is where you seem to get your sharpness so watch lots of videos on that, I tried free hand deburring but I don't seem to have the skill to do it well so I bought the MB 102 and deburr using the jig method, now my knives are screaming sharp.

Hope this helps!

It did, thanks. I also found anouther video, Sharpen knives and hatchets for hunting & outdoor, and it is explained a little bit better as 12:05 on the video.

Thanks again.

Quote from: Sir Amwell on January 03, 2026, 01:39:32 PMIm not good with technology so won't attempt to give a link. If you go through Knife Grinders videos on YT there are a few in which Vadim shows how to do this correctly.

Thanks, I looked at their YouTube page and couldn't find anything on clamping a knife but I did find a ton of other info. Thanks again.

Quote from: Sir Amwell on January 03, 2026, 02:42:45 AMAlso check that you have the knife correctly aligned in the jig so that you are not fighting' against the jig stop on the USB. The tracking on the stop can throw off your even pressure along the length of the knife if not correctly aligned.

Thanks', I have watched many videos on clamping knives and still a little confused on the correct angle to clamp. Any guidelines I can use to guarantee an accurate clamp for various knives?
