The front base you can use to sharpen edge trailing. Also you can use it to hone at a fixed angle. If you sharpen at a set angle using the KS-123 or other method (edge leading) you can then setup the same angles on the japanese stone or the hone wheel. I find the front base very useful since i dont hone free hand. ( I use tormeks version MB-102)

I am quite new to the tormek world but could the bump you are feeling in the honing wheel be where the seam is glued? look at minute 3:58 in this video:

That would not explain the noise but worth a try. I had to sandpaper my honing-wheel on the T4 quite a lot to get rid of the bump.
congrats on a fine setup of tormek things!

I can also wouch for tormeks excellent customer service. I bought a new DF-200 for my T4 a year or so ago and it was wobbling a bit. Got in touch with customer service and after sending them a video of my wheel in action, i got a new DF-200 and they paid for shipping the first one to them.

Thank you Ken
I dont think it is the water tray. It is the motor. It is louder than my T4.
I have searched the forum and found this video:

My unit sounds the same except for the faint crackling sound. It is just the humming from the motor that i find to loud ( louder than my T4).
I can however return it for a refund (just got it) but now i dont know if i should order another one?
I think i will stick with my T4 for a while.

Hello
I recently got my new Tormek T8. Most is positive.
However there is quite a bit of vibrations from the machine when running. The vibrations is pretty annoying and can be felt in the workbench. This also makes the machine quite loud. It is louder than my old T4. When i put my hand on the shell it is tangible.
Since i don´t know what is normal i would like to ask you:
Can you feel vibrations from the shell of your machine when running?
(My old T4 (not very old) is super smooth- not even a tiny vibration can be felt when running)
all best

Hello
New here. Reading allot. I have a Tormek T4 that i very much like but i feel it is time to upgrade to the T8. Although i fear my current workbench may be to high for the T8 and that would maybe be a problem for me.
Can someone in the forum tell me the measurement from the workbench to the top of a 250mm stone on the T8? (preferably in cm but inch ok)
That would help me allot. I have found difference in tormek´s statements and i figure the forum could give me a definitive answer. Of course it would have to be a pretty new stone or a diamond stone.
