Thanks for the replies. What is the expected life of a well maintained diamond wheel?  Is the criteria based on number of tools sharpened rather than a period of time?  Likely there are too many variables to nail it down, just interested in a ball park estimate.

Is Tormek's ACC-150 Anti-Corrosion Concentrate worth the cost when alternates such as Red Line Water Wetter Super Coolant 12oz available in the US at Autozone for $13.99 is a plausible substitute?

Knife Sharpening / Rock hard felt vs SJ-250
June 22, 2024, 03:51:48 PM
are the rock hard felt and SJ-250 wheels intended for the same purpose, presumably final polishing, and does one wheel have an advantage over the other?
I debate purchasing a felt wheel that requires diamond spray and low humidity storage, especially if the SJ-250 will accomplish the same end.

Knife Sharpening / Re: SP-650 use on SJ-250

Comments under the video about how to use the SP-650 Stone Grader on Tormek's own website appear to disagree.

"The fine side gives the surface of the stone up to about 1000 grit."

Knife Sharpening / SP-650 use on SJ-250

If the fine side of the SP-650 at 1000 grit is used to clean the 4000 grit SJ-250, will the SJ-250 grit degrade from 4000 to 1000 grit?  If not, why would that be the case?  Apologies if this is a repeat inquiry.
