Late to the party but I never liked the Pro Edge Skew jig. I use the Axminster ultimate edge for my turning tools, and as it accepts most of the Tormek jigs I would have liked to use the SVS 50 but it was over budget so I made this which works great. Unlike the SVS 50 the angle is fixed like the Sorby jig.

Hard felt wheels seem to be sold as 66SG, sometimes written 0.66SG. The SchleifJunkies Rock hard ones appear to be 0.9 (at least that's what the website says) so maybe they're much harder. Hard to be sure, I suppose you'd have to compare the weight? Here in the UK you can get a 250x40 Hard Felt (66SG) wheel for about £85.

CORRECTION...on the width of the wheel.  It's actually 1 1/4" thick.  I mistyped.  That said, it's still the same idea and from what you're saying, it doesn't make a whole lot of difference.  Hanns told me that he could get the 50mm wheels, however they would cost around 200 euros, rather than the 129 euros for the narrower ones.
My second question is, can the Felt Wheels be reused with a different size micron spray?

I've been looking at felt wheels recently. Difficult to compare as different manufacturers use different terms for hardness but €129 sounds like a lot for a 250x31.75 wheel.

How do CBN compare to Diamond wheels on a cost/longevity basis?

Apologies for dragging up an old thread. I'm just having trouble working out how the prototype on the first page works? I can see the two parts are joined by a dovetail but how does the bolt either adjust or secure them?

An observation from a newbie on this site. The new jig looks a lot nicer than the old version but being largely plastic one has to wonder if it's as durable. It obviously doesn't have the adjustable collar that most jigs of this type have either. I'm wondering how well it's going to clamp the blade. Many knife blades are tapered but in the opposite direction to that which appears in the above photo of the clamp?

I assume you have all seen this third party offering? Very expensive but the clamping may be better?
