I thought about taping a piece of magnet to the outside of the water.  However, all the magnets I have were being used for something else.  So I went to HFT and bought 150 lb. Pull Retrieving Magnet for $10.  Let me tell ya, 150 lb. pull is a lot of magnetism!!  :o

150 lb. pull is a major overkill, but it works.  Also, I need it for something else, too!

General Tormek Questions / Re: beyond grading
May 04, 2021, 06:30:32 AM
After watching the video, I couldn't wait to try it out.  So I ordered a few diamond plates on ebay.  They were $6+ each.

1st question) Do you guys buy the cheap plates or the quality kind?

2nd question) How long to they last?  Cheap and quality

The ones I bought didn't last very long.  Think I got a poorly made 600 grit plate, because it was smoother than a baby's butt after a couple of sessions on the stone wheel.  The 1000 & 1200 lasted maybe between 4 to 6 uses.  The quality plates I've seen are somewhere between $40 - $60.  Don't know if they are worth it since I just bought a couple of CBN wheels, and they do not need to be graded.

So I purchased the 12mm fender washer, slapped that suck on, and the sun and stars have aligned for me again.

Once again, thanks for the help fellas!  Cheers!!

I received my Tornado Jr. 8" CBN Wheels (400 & 1200) today and tested them out on my T-4.  It was disappointing that things didn't go well.

1st) There's a lag between when the T-4 is powered on and when the wheel starts spinning.
2nd) The wheel would stop spinning when I try to sharpen.  I didn't even use that much pressure.  Only using the jig and knife and my fingers for stabilization.
3rd) Unlike the SG stone, I can't just hold the honing wheel while turning CBN wheel to loosen the lock nut.  I can spin the CBN wheel freely while holding the honing wheel.

Just curious if anybody else have had the same problem or have any suggestions?
