It's been a while since I wrote on the forum.
A serious illness of my wife has separated me from the forum and from many other things.
I just read that Vadim is dead...

I am very sad about it. He was a teacher. He helped me a lot through the forum and in private conversations. He was a point of reference for me.
His last words to me were written in his book when he gave it to me.
I will keep it as a great memory.

This is a problem of the jig. Is not a T4 problem.
Tormek jigs for knives are not auto centered jigs.

Returning to the original theme, i´m going to explain my opinion.

Using any of the wheels, is highly recomended to increase the grit progresively.
This is the way to minimize the process time and the way to not overworked the higher grit wheels.
A very high jump between wheel grits make that the next wheel must work very long time, whith logical wear and time of work increase.

Tormek offers three wheels logicaly staggered and I think that this offer is a good reference for use in any kind of wheels.

What kind of sharpness are you getting?

Always under 100BESS at 15-17 dps. But impossible in one or two minutes

In these days,  I have been 1 year using Tormek DF-250 and Tormek DE-250 with tap water only; without ACC-150 or another corrosion inhibitor.
At least, for knives every day from Tuesday to Saturday.

Both wheels are in perfect state.

The only point to consider during the work with this wheels is to dry them just after use.
This is my experience.

Is very important to dry the wheel after use.

I keep the wheel in its original case,but in the bottom part i put various newspaper pages in order to absorb the water that is trapped inside the casing.
before this, I make some movements to expel the major part of this water.

Next day, I´ll take some photos of my two wheels.

2: The bump on honing wheel where the leather is joined was bugging me so again 1200g to the rescue.

Low pressure, high angle.

I think that is the question.

I have sharpened my Spyderco Military (S30V) and deburred with the leather wheel on T8 with perfect results.
Two passes per side in the same angle. Three passes per side in one more DPS and last pass in the same angle very, very slow and very low pressure.

I think that the honing wheel not works better if the pressure is high.

I found this "problem" too...

Solution:  two or three rounds of painter´s tape around the jig just at the end of adjustable stop.



I think like RickKrung; this light movement is not relevant about final result... but only see the movement it makes me nervous

I use honing paste every 5 or 6 knives.

About oil, I use it after long time without use. f.e. after holidays. After 30 days without use the honing wheel, I add a little bit of oil in order to hydrate the leather.

I´m sharpening between 5 to 10 knives daily and this system works perfectly.

I am in the process of scrapping the ACC-150 with the use of Diamond Grinding Wheels.

Two months left to finish the test.

I´ll tell you...   

Today I have sharpened several knives with the KnifeGrinders FVB app and everything has worked perfectly.

I think I need to qualify the word "problem" that I have used before...

Really is not a problem (the rust). The US-430 works perfectly. I have a pair of them because the 80% of the knifes I sharpen, are very long. Up to 34cm.
My work place have a very high humidity. All metals rust easily, except Stainless steel.

I need to do maintenance of all tormek´s parts every two months. Disassemble, degrease and re-grease again. Jigs, unversal supports, Ezylock and all screws.

By the way; I bought two US-430... I think the two first in Spain

I have two US-430s and they both have the same problem.
I use a Dremel to remove excess material.

The problem is that, where the material has been removed, rust appears.

Both kind of wheels are adequate for Premium Steels.

I have used both wheels for VGMax and S90V and I have obtained very good results.

(I understand where you write CBM you want write CBN)
