General Tormek Questions / WM-200 storage plate
March 21, 2020, 07:21:03 PM
Greetings all. I have had my T8 for about a year, and I am loving it! There is one minor thing: Try as I might, I can't get the storage plate for the WM-200 to stick on the front of the machine. I have lightly clamped it, cleaned the mounting surface, tried double sided carpet tape(I suppose I shouldn't have done that...). Anybody else with this trouble? It is such a little thing, but having it stored right on the sharpener is very handy! Thanx for looking, everybody!

General Tormek Questions / Note to self......
March 23, 2019, 06:43:41 PM
So as a newbie, I was merrily sharpening my chisels and plane blades this AM. After sharpening a very short and rather narrow chisel, I noticed it left some grooves in the stone. Not to worry, I thought, I'll just see how the truing tool works. Make sure to tighten the tool securely to the shaft. Half way across the stone it loosened and put a huge gouge in my brand new stone! bummer! Had to take off way more than I should have to get the stone back to true. It pained me to see so much of the stone in the trough after I was done! On the bright side, I bet I don't do that again......

Sorry for not getting back to the forum in a timely manner. I did not loosen the nut, I noticed it was so loose it was making noise while running.

I guess the title asks my question. The nut that holds the drive wheel on my brand new T8  is finger tight. Is that correct? (I searched and did not find any posts about this...) Thanx, Kevin

john.jcb   Using the water outside for the plants is a great idea! Thanx

Thanx, Ken S, and Twisted Trees for your thoughts! I think I will err on the safe side and use water not from our tap! It does taste salty from the softener, and our well water is full of dissolved limestone, and hydrogen sulfide, as well!!

Greetings all!
Sorry for the edit-hit the wrong key. My question concerns using softened water for the trough. Our well water is very heavily softened (it will leave white deposits on the dish drainer within a few days of cleaning). Will this accumulating in the stone harm it? It must be sodium chloride and I wonder if it builds up enough if it would somehow change the stone's properties.... Thanx for looking and for any assistance!
