Knife Sharpening / Re: Jig setting knife block

Thank you Wootz.
Just one last question. What are the dementions from the top of the SS ruler to the bottom of the jig? Is the cut 9mm?

I've been all over his site. Must have missed it. I commented on one of his videos asking just for the dementions. I'll have a neighbor who can dato cut the piece. It does not make sense to buy it with the cost of shipping. Love his videos so much content to view and replay for a nube like me.

Ed,

I have not heard of Pat Hennin, however, if I was anywhere Boston, I would not miss his lecture. In past shows at Hartville, there are some regulars who come to get their pocket knives sharpened for free. There are also some people with genuine interest, like you. I worked as a Tormek demonstrator for one weekend show. I believe you will find Pat Hennin a very interested and interesting Tormeker. As such, he will be very glad to talk with you. Make full use of the slower periods. That's when you can learn the most. Ask lots of questions.

This is his web site https://www.shelterinstitute.com/instructors/hennin/pat

Have a great day!

Ken

ps Where is the show located? (My mother's side of the family lived in Mass. for several hundred years.) West Springfield about 110 miles give or take from Boston.

- Ken, good idea. I'm going on a Sunday because of a commitment I have on Saturday. It should be scarce of people since its closing day.
Tormek seminar by Pat Hennin Here is his seminar description.
Saturday 3:00 pm, Sunday 11:30 am
The Tormek Sharpening System is one of the best tools available for sharpening everything in your bevy of
tools. We have been using the Tormek Sharpening System since it was green! We will share with you, our
tips and tricks to making the machine do the work for you so you can get back to what you love most, using
your tools. Whether you have had and have been using your Tormek for years, have it sitting in a box in
your workshop but haven't found the time to set it up or you are considering purchasing one; this workshop
will afford you some great new ideas to help you get your edge back.

Discovered Tormek will be a vendor at the 2019 woodworking shows. They will be in MA next week and I plan on attending. Two seminars as well talking about the Tormek and sharpening. http://www.thewoodworkingshows.com/new-england.html
Has anyone in the forum attended in years past? Was it worth the trip? Its about 80 miles one way from where I live.

Just have so many questions but want to make the questions interesting for all.
Love the idea of the foil tray. So simple but just did not think about it.
Thanks to all for helping.

So trying to visualize but wouldn't the water down to the upward part of the tray spilling water instead of running water on the side that is angled. Hope that makes sense.

So I just received my T8 Dec 28th and spent many hours reading the material and watching You Tube. Finally went down cellar with my cheap stamped blade to sharpen what I thought I learned. Did not do a good job using the angle finder and chewed up the edge. But the real reason for writing was the knife jumped on me twice and scared the bejesus out of me. Enough so I stopped to go back and look at more videos. I don't like the idea of the wheel turning towards me and fully understand I need to get the correct pressure from both hands to stop the knife from jumping. I want to ask the forum are there folks out there who sharpen using the universal bar in a horizontal position with the wheel turning against me?
