OK, thanks boys.   I think I'll keep it warm.   Not a big deal.   And that ice cold beer will start looking really good in about ....  uh .... three more months.   We spent the winter living off-grid and care-taking some property for friends on Kluane Lake.   Interesting.  Wood heat only, diesel generator, propane hot water.   Gorgeous spot.   But we're too damn old for this lifestyle and 140 miles from a hospital.  Which I needed once when my log splitter went rogue and nipped the end of my finger off.   Oh well, tough noogies.    Anybody want to buy a banjo ....  or four?  No more picking for me.   One last question ....  which way do I turn the knob on the leather honing wheel to remove it?    DUH.   It's very tight and I don't want to screw it up.    Thanks again for the responses.   Will find a warm place for it while we're moving back into Whitehorse.    RR

General Tormek Questions / ice cold Tormek

Howdy, boys.  Would anyone care to comment on storing my T-8 in sub-freezing temperature for a month or two?    I would not be using it at all, just storing.  By the time I get back to it, temps would be above freezing.   I don't know if freezing would cause any damage.  Thanks very much.    Rem, from the frozen north of Canada, where -10 is considered pleasant.

Hey, what's with this ER stuff?   :-\ Hope you're feeling better now.   Don't make me have to come down there.  It's so damn cold, I can't even start my truck.  GET RIGHT, SAILOR.   All the best.   Rem

I am not a gifted DIY type of person, so I was reluctant to initiate a "truing" activity on my grindstone.  Going at it with basically 3 fingers and 7 thumbs, I found it to be extremely easy to do.   Go ahead, try it if you haven't already.  Now I'm an "expert".   Ha ha ......   and you will find that a couple of light passes will not even be measurable on your ruler.   It works really well and is pretty hard to screw up.   Just sayin'.     It's all "true".   Sorry ....       RR

Does anyone have an idea as to what these new diamond wheels might sell for?   I'm assuming they are not yet available to the retail market as I can't find them listed with any Canadian retailers.  Nor could I find this information in the email / website I received from Tormek this morning.

Just curious.   Thanks.    Soared up to minus 15 yesterday in Whitehorse.   Damn near tropical.   RR

General Tormek Questions / Re: Good deal on the T-4

It may be about the same in Canada, but you get a bunch of extra stuff with it.   And if you're ordering from the U. S., you'd save a bunch of money of top of that.    Don't know about shipping costs.

Just wanted to point it out.    Lee Valley is a good outfit to deal with.    I've dealt with them for many years, and have never been disappointed.     RR

Given the current exchange on Canadian funds, this will cost you about 20 bucks.    R

I can now, with great authority, highly recommend the turkey baster sold by Lee Valley Tools.   Known on the LV site as the Dripless Baster.  $27  Canadian ........  probably about a buck and a quarter American.   R

More importantly, how was the Irish oatmeal ??    What is the difference between that and Canadian oatmeal ??   R

If you're inclined to remove some stone, I'd go for it.   I've done a couple of fairly nasty gouges and it goes faster than you might think.  Make a few passes and see what you think.  You might be surprised.  R
