Hi.

I have experience with both axminster and Brimarc and can tell you their support is not very good at all and sales, they just don't care. there's no flexibility for discount. My dealer near me is amazing and I couldn't be without them. my T7 was a last in stock for an amazing price with the HTK705 and this really has saved my working life.

I observed one thing straight off when using my machine. after testing with one bevel chisel, I needed to resurface the sg250 as it was running out of true. it took about 10 mins in slow passes but works fine now. I have to admit that the pricing of both stones and replacement honing wheels is a little mad but for this machine it's worth it. I wouldn't worry too much about stones and where they're made. from my experience between wet stones and grinding stones, I've gone to different manufacturers in my time and noticed differences, but as long as the stones are looked after well, youshould be alright. If you're concerned, contact Tormek sweden directly and express your concerns explaining your issues with Brimarc who are now taken over by axminster. the whole brimarc-axminster thing has shifted to a new level. now axminster are selling other stuff and that alarms me to be honest. Anyway, I hope you get somewhere with this.

off ti the workshop to set up a batch of new chisels.

Hi all,

As a new tormek user, I have the T7 with the HTK 705 kit. Part of my tooling is a set of beefy mortise chisels which are thicker than the square edge jig can support.  My worry was finding a method of safely squaring and setting my mortise chisels.

After a while, I realised there was a short tool jig in the HTK kit. this actually allows me to set  my mortise chisels comfortably and keeps them in place.

now for a little request for the designers of tormek products. Please could you produce a larger capacity version of the square edge jig? something that can take upto a 3/4" thick steel or there abouts? this would be a huge help.

cheers.

Hi guys,

This is a question to Jeff Farris.

Hi Jeff, I'm new to using tormek, after years of using sharpening stones and bench grinders that to be quite honest drove me mad, I took on a tormek T7. was just thumbing through threads and someone mentioned conditioning the leather honing wheel.

Unfortunately, I missed the bit about oiling the honing wheel and have used it straight with the honing compound. Could you advise me as to the best way to resolve conditioning of the honing wheel. I've used this for a couple of days to set some new framing chisels up. the wheel still feels rather dry and I'm worried I'm doing things wrong.

could you guide me please?
