General Tormek Questions / Scandi Grind
June 12, 2013, 04:31:26 PM
I need a little help, other than "free hand" is there a way to use the T7 to sharpen a scandi grind blade, it's much too shallow to use the small tool holder as the holder hits the stone. I think it's like a 7% angle, on a small 3" blade...

Thanks in advance
Paul

I'll call Lee Valley first thing Monday morning.

Thanks to all of you for your fast response to my inquiry. I'll keep you updated.

Yes, that's it exactly!

I'm in Toronto Ontario and bought my T7 just awhile ago from Lee Valley Tools, do I contact them, or do I need to talk with Tormek directly?

I seem to have a problem with my grindstone, there's a spot in the center of the stone that appears to be more coarse or maybe softer (it's hard to describe) than the rest of the wheel. This spot is about 1/2" wide by about 3 1/2" long. I've used the diamond truing stone and the dressing stone but it reappears after a few minutes of grinding a knife edge. It's actually quite visible when the stone is wet and you can clearly hear and feel it every time the knife edge hits it. Has anyone else ever encountered this? if so how do I deal with it?

General Tormek Questions / Truing the SJ-250
January 09, 2013, 12:56:43 PM
Should the SJ-250 stone (Japanese water stone) ever be trued using the TT-50, and if so, what is the recommended procedure?. It seems to be very soft and fine grained to me for such harsh cutting. Thx.

General Tormek Questions / Motor slipping
December 29, 2012, 08:23:50 PM
When ever I sharpen knives I have no problem, but when sharpening dull scissors sometimes the motor starts to slip causing the grinding wheel to stop turning, I don't think I'm exerting that much pressure. I suspect it's because of the very steep angle scissors have (60*) and removing so much material. Is this normal? is there something I'm doing wrong, or need to be doing, to stop this from happening?

P.S. This is a brand new T7, only 2 days old.
