thanks Ken, Upon thinking about it the only advantages I can see are constant wheel diameter and no dressing of the wheel. All that said I like the edges I get from the stones.

I'm always looking for a quicker way. How about putting a shower cap or other type plastic bag over the honing wheel when not in use for a few days?
