General Tormek Questions / Uneven knife grind
January 13, 2013, 12:33:27 AM
Hey guys,
Had my T7 a while now and love it for my turning tools but I've ran into an issue with the short knife jig. It's the first time I've used the knife jig so maybe I'm doing something wrong ( iv read the book and watched the vids!)
I'm getting an angle change when I flip the blade over! One side ends up getting a wider grind edge than the other?
Any ideas?
Many thanks

Hey guys,
I was trying to setup the gouge jig to put an edge back on a new Sorby 12mm spindle gouge and was struggling..

I dont have the Turning Tool Setter but i assume its possible to do it without (its on my things to buy list!)
I set the jig to number 2 which is what is recommended for spindle gouges in the book but i cannot, no matter where i set the tool rest, to match the angle of the Sorby factory grind. If i set it to match the angle of the center of the tool, as i lay over in the jig it opens up a gap between the edge and the stone. I have measured the factory grind angle using the AngleMaster and it seems to be different from the center to the edge...

Im assuming that im either doing it wrong or the the T-7 wants to do its own grind and can't match whatever the Sorby factory has ground it to..

HELP!! ???

Thanks

Hey guys,
My first post here, ive had a T7 for a couple of weeks and its going well!
I was in the workshop today sharpening up some flat chisels and noticed little black "bits" stuck on the stone and floating about in the water.
They are .5 -1mm in sized and are not unlike rubbery booga's... for the life of me i can't figure out where its coming from....

I replaced the water and picked them off the wheel but an hour later they were back...

Any ideas?

Cheers
