Thank you for the reply, I found this article, which seems to indicate that the shaft setting could be crucial.

All references drawn from handbook version 9.7. Can anyone tell me what the correlation is between the 'Jig' numbers page 73 (which says the numbers go from 0-5, but clearly shows a 6) and the numbers on the shaft. The only mention I could find was on page 72, (the stop ring can be set for a convex bevel).
