Your down under tool looks a lot like my up over tool.

Ken

... give us some follow up.  How do you now maintain your grinding wheels?

Ken
Hi Ken

I use a Wheel Doctor readily available down under in Oz (See http://www.carbatec.com.au/wheel-doctor_c2000).
Works a treat.   ;D

Thanks for the response.  I was aware of the "try-it-for-myself-and-see-what-happens" option.  But, as Ken suggests, that way risks destroying my TT-50.  That's why I was hoping that someone who actually knows if it would work would chime in.  Never fear, if I feel adventurous enough to risk my $79.95 jig, I'll be sure to post the results.  I think, however, I'll be more likely to lie down until the adventurous feeling passes.
David,
This was raised by me some time ago, see http://forum.tormek.com/index.php?topic=876.msg1938#msg1938

Wood Turning / Truing with the BMG-100
August 15, 2009, 01:46:03 PM
Hi Jeff
Could I use the standard Tormek truing tool using the BMG-100 jig set-up for a 1500rpm (50Hz) bench grinder?
Or would that be a waste of a good truing tool?
If it can be used, should I only use it when the grinder is running down (ie after being switched off)?
Many thanks,
Regards
Peter

Hi

Just to clarify, the above website is an Aussie site and the price is in Aussie dollars (exchange rate approx 1AS$=0.8US$).  Tools and jigs are generally much more expensive in Aust than they are in the US.  :'( :'(

Jeff indicated earlier they should sell for around $57 in the US.

""I have been trying to find out the Tormek RPM speed without success. """

Really?  :-[

Look at

on this website.

90 or 120 rpm depending on model.

General Tormek Questions / Re: Lifting the 2006
September 23, 2008, 01:26:03 PM
Thanks Jeff
I must explain I live in Sydney, Australia and bought the 2006 about two months ago.  Looking at the T-3 on your web site, I believe this is the same model as the one sold as the 2006 down under.
In any case, any comment on a good lifting method for a T-3 type machine?

General Tormek Questions / Thread stripped
September 22, 2008, 01:58:08 PM
After using the Long Knife Jig (SVM-100) on a couple of knives successfully, I attemtepted to use the SVM-45 regular Knife Jig for smaller paring knives for the first time.  After reading the instructions, I set the Adjustable Stop (item 2 in the manual sketch) to zero and tightened the screw to stop the jig spindle from turning.  Even with a gentle touch (I'm a mechanical engineer and understand the properties of materials) I found that I had stripped the thread in the adjustable stop.... :'(.
I have contacted my supplier and he advised that there should be no problem in getting a replacement stop, but my question is why does Tormek not put a metallic threaded insert in the adjustable stop to make it last? ??? ???

General Tormek Questions / Lifting the 2006
September 22, 2008, 01:43:51 PM
I note that the T-7 model has a lifting handle, which the 2006 does not.

Having bought the 2006 model Tormek, I am wondering what the best way is to lift it onto and off the bench?  I have been lifting it with one hand under grinding wheel and the other under the plastic water container.  It works, but does not sound the most elegant way to do this and any advice would be appreciated.
