I agree with your accessment of the paper getting clogged up fast. As with most woodturners we develop a pretty good since of touch and I am sure I am not applying to much pressue. I am wondering if there is a compound that could be applied to the drive wheel to increase traction. Thank you for your thoughts.

I clean both the wheel and the drive shaft, also lighten up on the pressure applied to the tool. I still wonder about gluing a piece of emory paper to the drive shaft for more traction.

General Tormek Questions / Re: Cracked grinding wheel
October 13, 2012, 12:01:52 AM
I am wondering if Tormek has or is thinking about making a wheel with Cubic Boran, not sure of the spelling, I think this would be great but I am not an engineer so don't know if this would work. Don't think they would crack. Any thoughts/

I ALSO HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE SHAFT SLIPPING ON THE DRIVE SHAFT. i HAVE DONE THE SANDPAPER THING, WHICH HELPS SHORT TERM. NOW I JUST DIP MY FINGER IN WATER AND APPLY TO THE DRIVE TIRE. WHICH I THINK JUST REMOVES FINE DUST, AND IT IS GOOD TO GO FOR A WHILE. I HAVE WONDERED ABOUT GLUING A PIECE OF SANDPAPER UNTO THE DRIVE SHAFT. ANY THOUGHTS ARE WELCOMED.

General Tormek Questions / Slimy Grinding Stone
July 26, 2008, 05:40:19 AM
My stone has gotten slimy for siting in the water with wood dust and curls. Can a little bleach be added or would this mess up the stone?

This one is so simple I can't believe no one suggested it. All you got to do is gring the Skew down until it fits! ::) LOL

General Tormek Questions / Gung Ho

I was so impressed with the demonstration at the Wood Tool Convention that I bought every jig available when I bought my Tormek a few years ago. To date I believe I have used three maybe four. I took them all out of the box looked at them and put them back in the box. There are a couple new items that I think I coud use...do you have a trade in policy? I use my Woodturning jigs almost every day and some several times a day. I think the Tormek is a fine choice for keeping your tools sharp and since I always have fine sanding dust in the shop I really appreciate not having sparks shootin' around.
