Title: Using a portable mini generator to power the Tormek T-8
Post by: Ken98660 on October 07, 2022, 12:43:45 AM
I'm just wondering if there might be any kind of drawbacks or downsides to the idea of using a portable mini generator as a means of powering up the Tormek, as opposed to the idea of using a power inverter.

I don't think there would be any downside as far as the Tormek goes.

From a practical standpoint, though, you'll have to deal with the noise, exhaust fumes, maintenance, and weight.  I have a couple portable Honda generators and maintenance is the primary nuisance.  They do require frequent oil changes, and if you aren't going to use it for an extended period of time you have to take precautions to prevent the carb from gumming up.

Might be worth it, depending on your intended use.  It does have the advantage of longer run time compared to comparably priced battery units.
