Jeff, I have read (on other sites) other woodworkers who complement the Tormek sharpening process by ending with honing their tools on +4000 grit or higher oilstones or diamonds for the ultimate edge. Would you recommend this process or is it overkill?
There's nothing wrong with it, but I just don't see it as necessary. Some people struggle with the leather honing wheel. They bring the angle up too high and round over the edge. If you are getting good results with the leather honing wheel, I see no advantage to spending the money on a set of bench stones.
