Title: knife making
Post by: Maxbeard on August 13, 2004, 03:13:27 PM
I hand forge knives and tools and I was wondering if the Tormek suitable for making the initial hollow grind on knives.  All my previous work has been flat ground until this point and I was looking for a low mess alternative to a belt grinder (Bader or Burr King).

Thanks in advance,
Max

I wish I could give you an intelligent answer, Max, but I don't think I can.  I think that the TORMEK will be a little slow in cutting a deep hollow on something like a Bowie knife.  It will certainly do it, but not at the speed you may be looking for.  On the other hand, you will never have to worry about drawing the temper from your project.
