Title: molding planes
Post by: martin king on January 08, 2009, 04:09:12 AM
Hi,
Just inherited a vintage set of hollows and rounds. The irons all need sharpening and are all different radii.
What would be the best jig to use on the rounds?
Thanks,

Martin

Well, better late than never.  ;)

I did my first round blades this weekend using the SVD-110 in the vertical position. I don't know if Tormek ever intended round blades to be sharpened this way, but it worked, for the most part.

Missed this one until now, sorry.

Lap the flat side on the side of the stone and hone the profile with the profiled leather honing wheel. Grinding on the profile can only be done on convex surfaces and should be done very carefully to avoid changing the profile.
