Title: T8 water tray mechanism
Post by: Kodar on June 30, 2025, 06:06:20 PM
Hi there sharpening people! This is my first post.

I have a question regarding the sliding mechanism on the T8. My water quality is very hard where I live, and well, my transport mechanism for the water tray got quite stiff. I've used some citric acid solutions to dissolve the build up and it helped, but only for a short while. After that it would get clogged again and give me troubles.

The question I have, is whether any one of you knows how to disassemble the machine? So that I can do a quality cleaning of that sliding mechanism. I have tried, and had troubles removing the blue plastic portion of the assembly, so I stopped before I did any damage. Any instructions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I've been hitting my water trough lifting mechanism with PTFE spray grease after it got gummed up with the ACC-150 solution. So far it's been working pretty well, and each application lasts a few weeks of sharpening before I need to hit it with the spray grease again.

No luck removing my T-8 housing for a deep clean either.

Will be keeping an eye on this post for any useful information.

Welcome to the forum, Kodar.

My first thought is to recommend that you email support. (support@tormek.se)

Reading that you have very hard water, I would try usinf distilled water from the grocery store. It is not expensive. My water is not hard, so I have never had that problem.

Please post the reply from support. I am curious to learn what they recommend.

I add a couple of drops of Dawn dish soap in my water. I wonder how a bit of CLR would work in tour case?
