Title: SVD-180
Post by: MikeFoydel on September 01, 2008, 12:51:07 AM
I've been using a tormek for 8 years. I have had the SVD-180 for the same amount of time.
Do I need to buy the SVD-185 or can I just get the insert to sharpen the tool inserts? And by the the way, is the 180
the same as the 185? I also already own the TTS-100.
Thanks,
Mike

Sorry for the delay in replying Mike.

The SVD-180 and SVD-185 are very similar.  The SVD-185 uses a different clamping pad and includes an arm to sharpen insert scrapers.  There is an upgrade kit (SVD-005) that will change your SVD-180 into a SVD-185.

The new clamping pad is a worthwhile upgrade.
