Title: SVM-45 jig adjustable stop
Post by: LyleWoody125 on March 05, 2025, 04:11:48 AM
I have the subject knife sharpening jig. The only instruction regarding the positioning of the adjustable stop is to set it at 'zero'.
Why is it adjustable if it is always set to zero....?
Is it adjustable for a reason? I have not found any information for why or how it needs to be adjusted, except on the third page of the instructions.

Any enlightenment out there?
Thanks in advance
Lyle.

I believe that the intent is that if you are sharpening multiple knives you can set up your first knife using, say, a mid point on the adjustment knob, set a stop using, say a sliding square, for protrusion, set up the correct angle on the wheel. When you go to additional knives all you need to do is set the same protrusion using the adjustable stop then you are all set to go for that knife without using any other setup.  All of that assumes that you are using the same sharpening angle on all of the knives.

Maybe they thought that people were not using the handle adjustment enough so they dropped it from the KJ-45.

I use the KS-123 which I find super quick and easy. Much better than the Angle Master.

The Mirco-Adjust bar made that feature obsolete I spect.
