Title: Wheel Truing 201
Post by: Ken S on August 08, 2024, 03:19:02 PM
i like the videos by isharpen. This video, about truing his SG-250, seems very well done and thorough. Here is a link:

Part two is also well worth watching, also:

Good videos, Ken Thanks for posting.

I try and true my stone in very small amounts more often rather than taking a lot off in one session.

John,

Great minds think alike!

I think of truing as a two dimensional graph. The horizontal axis is time (actually grinding time). The vertical axis is trueness. We start at zero time and 100% true.
With grinding time, the grinding wheel gradually gets out of true until we true it again. At that point, things reset to zero time and 100% trueness.

Frequent retruing keeps the average trueness very high. It also keeps the untrue gremlins at bay. Like you, I true lightly and frequently.

Ken

I have not tested it but I think those that rarely true the stone have a false sense of economy as when they do finally true yjrt remove a lot of the stone.
