Title: gingher sewing scissors sharpening
Post by: ts61400 on February 19, 2004, 01:48:22 AM
Jeff, how can I sharpen a pair of my wife's sewing scissors?  They are not like the scissors you use to demonstrate the scissor jig.  The blade of the scissor is angled besides the cutting angle.  I cannot figure out how to mount them in the jig because there is no flat surface on the blade.  Once in the clamp awkwardly, I cannot set the jig angle without the jig touching the stone as well(from behind the blade).  Any suggestions you would have would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you are putting the scissor blade too far back into the jig.  You need only catch the back of the blade enough to get a secure grip.  The clamp on the jig should adapt to most any blade shape.  I have done Ginghers on many occasions.
